The Jewellery Stalker

Twenty years after its first high jewellery launch, Victoire de Castellane, Dior’s HJ Artistic Director, wants to celebrate colors and cuts, mixing all previous collections together. She created the largest collection of the Maison with 99 pieces where asymmetry, mix of cuts and kaleidoscopic colors are ruling.

Gem Dior does not focus on center stones but rather on the gradiant hues and fantasy shapes, revealing a poetic, harmonic and feminine spirit.

The collection’s Gem Dior name is a play on words, because “J’aime,” the French for “I love,” sounds phonetically similar to English word “Gem.”

Speaking about the collection, de Castellane said: “It’s as if I had put all my collections from the past twenty years into a shaker and what popped out were freeze-frames and very large pixelized close-ups. In the end, what’s left is material and colour.”

The 38 jewelry sets were shown on models dressed in exclusive gowns created by Maria Grazia Chiuri, Dior’s Women Artistic Director, during a magical dinner held at the Palazzo Labia in Venice on June 11th. This celebration honoring the love for art and harmony was enhanced by the beauty of painter Giambattista Tiepolo’s frescoes. The festivities continued the following night, where VIPs and select media were treated to a performance of the Nuit Blanche ballet at the Teatro Malibran. The evening concluded with a banquet at the Scuola Grande di San Rocco, a Venetian landmark known for its bold and dignified architecture.
