Cannes Film Festival & Its Jewels

Launched on May 14th, the 72nd Cannes International Film Festival welcomed A-list actors, models and celebrities from all over the world. For 10 days, we could assist to a runway of haute couture dresses and fabulous jewels from many recognized brands. Among them, Cartier, Chopard, Bulgari and Boucheron were the most striking on the Red Carpet. However, other brands also got their spot such as De Grisogono, Lorraine Schwartz, Messika, Chanel and Atelier Swarovski, which reached at international figures to show off their creations.

This year, earrings were the most striking pieces worn, usually pendants shapes or with large volume. Necklaces have been rather put on the side for the benefit of bracelets.

Being the principal sponsor of the Film Festival in Cannes, Chopard always shines bright on the Red Carpet. Julianne Moore, Araya Hargate, Izabel Goulart, Dita Von Teese were some of the VIPs of the Swiss jeweler.

Their earrings made the most of the impressions. The petal earrings were very noticeable with gradient hues of sapphires and rubies, also in diamond version, set on a wavy titanium structure. A serie of extravagant and colorful pendant earrings also embellished the supermodels and actresses. Composed of various precious gemstones such as turquoises, emeralds, amethysts, citrines…

Worn by Guan XiaoTong and Clothilde Courau, the Magical Setting Rings also made great effect. The particularity is the cluster setting with an invisible mounting which creates the illusion of floating gemstones.

This time, Bulgari was quite shy on the Red Carpet.

Among it ambassadors, Bella Hadid and the long-standing friend of the brand, Carla Bruni, showed off Diamond Serpenti bracelets with Diva’s Dreams earrings.Selena Gomez also joined the team with her rain diamonds necklace and earrings coming part of the new high jewellery collection Cinemagia.

​Sofia Boutella wore a colorful necklace composed of rubellites, peridots and tourmalines set on a yellow gold mounting. Two diamond bracelets and a Serpenti ring completed the outfit.

Boucheron made quite of a statement in Cannes. Their iconic Plume de Paon creations embellished the ears and fingers of the supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio and actress Shailene Woodley. While the Lierre de Paris Necklace adorned the neck of the model Anja Rubik. Serpent Bohème, another icon of the Maison, found its way to Marina Fois, Zabou Breitman and Virginie Ledoyen, all three french actresses.

Boucheron jewels are largely inspired by nature, leaves, feathers and flowers. It looks for reproducing the movement of the elements in its jewels.  The French brand mainly used diamonds and classic design, which mostly satisfy the European clientele.

Cartier unveiled some more outstanding creations of the new high jewellery collection Magnitude.

The long-standing friend of the Maison, Monica Bellucci, got the chance to wear a splendid crocodile necklace composed of diamonds and emeralds. 6 cabochon cut emeralds from Colombia, totalling 21 carats, are adorning the back of the reptile. This unique piece pays tribute to the iconic double crocodile necklace of Maria Felix from the 1970s’. Back in 2006, Monica Bellucci alreay had the honor to wear the original creation.

Another masterpiece from Magnitude, this amazing opal necklace perfectly enhances Golshifteh Farahani’s outfit. This creation presents 2 Australian black opals totaling 25,10 carats, as well as a sugarloaf Colombian emerald of  5,32 carats. The center stones are highlighted by diamonds and lapis lazuli set on this geometrical and architectural design.

 

Wearing the Panthère collection, Nadine Labaki was shining with a Massai bracelet and Altesse earrings.
